Over the past week we have even completing some large hospitality events.
We recently completed a three day event, in which each day became incrementally busier +66% from Day 1- 2, and + 35% from Day 2-3.
However as a team of 3, we all felt that each day was incrementally easier.
Each day we had a better understanding of our tasks and responsibility. Each day we communicated more directly and honestly. Each day we discussed, decided and implemented incremental improvements in real time, as we worked.
And when we swapped all of our roles for 20 minutes, we were incredibly inefficient, and reverted to our previous roles in order to complete the tasks. Going back to what we were comfortable with.
We learnt that it is best to capture and implement improvements in real time. We learnt that their is a massive advantage to specialisation, however that advantage is far outweighed by the boredom of a highly repetitive working day.
My business and others that require the efficiency of specialisation, will need to develop roles for the new generation of people who will demand variety, excitement and personal satisfaction from their working day.
So we are working on a new strategy to help new staff to quickly understand their role and participate in all aspects of service delivery. A strategy focussed on younger staff, the "Under 20’s”.
All the best
